A Strategic Marketing Strategy In Action

Some strategic marketing lessons are not obvious. In some cases, you have to dig deep to find the diamond.

This was the case on a recent trip to the grocery store, where I discovered a strategic marketing strategy very powerful in action. Before I knew it, this unique marketing strategy that had enveloped me and I would buy your product.

But before revealing what is strategic marketing strategy is, I ask you a question:

Do you believe in second chances? I do. (And as you're about to discover, there really is a reason for strategic marketing strategy behind it)

I also believe in the possibility of third well (but unlikely quarter - but that's another story)

In fact, I'm so in favor of a second chance, you just bought a loaf of bread from a former convict.

Why do it?

In the lesson of strategic marketing strategy today, I give you three answers to this question, and why these responses are critical to your business plan strategic marketing.

Strategic Marketing Strategy: The Power of a story

"I recently bought a loaf of bread from a former inmate."

This may sound like a strange comment. First, why simply buy a loaf of bread worth mentioning?

And secondly ... Why would I buy a loaf of bread from someone who is a multiple criminal with convictions for drug use, drug trafficking, armed robbery and assault on a police officer?

Well, before we get into that, let me tell you that the bread was good. Very good. And almost did not buy it.

But I swallowed it. And here's why. In fact, here are the three reasons why - and why the real reason I bought this pan - and the lesson of strategic marketing strategy behind it - is of vital importance to their own business.

Reason # 1 - It was very healthy

I've been in a major health kick lately. No wonder, of course - is a forced draft health.

My wife has it in his head for some reason it is important to have clean arteries and good brightness colon (and now I have a bright, beautiful, thank you very much!)

So recently I found myself in the local supermarket, to reach the stack of health nut breads (found stacked between the rabbit food and soy milk, 100% organic).

While reading the bread, I found one that was made with whole grain almost every planet, was full of kindness colon cleansing, and if you eat it, you're guaranteed to live forever.

But that's not the bread that I bought. My bread was bought from an ex-convict. And yes, it was very healthy. But it was not the healthiest bread in the store. And as you probably guessed, I'm not sure it will live forever after eating a slice (or aaaaaamm I?).

So why did I choose to buy bread from the ex-convict? Of all the healthy breads could have led to the platform, why choose this? If it was not because he was the healthiest bread in the platform (was not), then what was?

Well, maybe it was because ...

Reason # 2 - I'm a sucker for a second chance

What I can say - I love giving people a second chance.

God knows I'm not perfect. I've done my own fair mistakes in my life (not serious enough to land me in jail ... at least they know about!)

I think I deserve a second chance. You are too. So why not David? (That's the name of ex-cons)

I am always ready to cut a guy (or girl) a little slack. Including Dave. Sure, it made some mistakes. But he wants a second chance. He needs a second chance. And I was willing to give.

But it was my desire to cut some slack sort of true reason why I brought forth bread from the shelves?

Sure, it played into it. It was not the real reason I bought that piece of bread. Here's the real reason:

Reason # 3 - It's a compelling story

Everyone is a sucker for a good story. This was too juicy to pass up.

I mean, come - an ex-convict spends 15 years in prison and has a rap sheet longer than the last "romantic comedy" I had the misfortune to do with my wife.

But this ex-con is cleaned, it changes your life, and not only becomes a productive member of society ...

... but actually goes on a quest "to make the world a better place, a loaf of bread at a time" (a vision right on your website).

Not only is this innovative entrepreneur small business trying to keep your nose clean, that is actually trying to make a difference in the lives of people. By creating a masterpiece baked goodness that is to share with anyone who hears his story.

Seriously, do not have this fairy tale life written all over it?

Dave is not trying to hide from his past. Instead, embrace it, and has woven his checkered past in the fairy tale that has been created around your business.

In fact, your small business is the story (and the sooner we realize this the better).

So Dave is not hiding from his past. That prints out loud and proud in all bags of "Dave's murderer bread." Do not believe me? Then go to "Whole Foods" and see for yourself.

And while you're at it, you grab a loaf. You'll be glad you did.

So what is the secret of strategic marketing to convince a conservative father of seven (yes, I said seven) to buy a real tree hugging the loaf of an ex-convict?

Here's a hint: It's the story.

And this is real life, honest to goodness reason I bought a loaf of bread from an ex-con: Because the story was so gosh darn convincing.

So ask yourself this - what story you are telling your customers? Because if you do not know ... you are telling a story. And it may not be the story you want to know it.

Therefore, as part of its own strategic marketing plan, be sure to take time to develop their own fairy tale. Your customers want to hear. And if it is convincing enough, you might just convince you to buy again and again, despite all its warts.

Strategic Marketing of Marks and Spencer

Marks & Spencer has a strong position in their marketing strategy and this has been a very important area. Marketing strategies used by Marks & Spencer are straightforward and are much more focused on middle-aged person. These strategies are formulated with a thorough analysis of the lifestyle, needs, desires, needs, cultures and habits of potential customers. This leads to thorough analysis of the quality objectives of strategic and tactical marketing. Marks & Spencer has always focused on the unique style of advertising, which is very different from its competitors, such as The Gap, Tommy Hilfiger and American Color and A and F. Benton Marks & Spencer has always been focused on several points of sale in particular focusing on the person of middle age and the perception of high quality and class of the elite. Apart from innovative style of advertising brands and Spencer also a unique style of hiring procedure, which is done through campaigns in different colleges and universities. Through these campaigns will hire people who are good and customer-oriented and who are already loyal to Marks & Spencer.

Segmentation
There are three main factors in strategic marketing and should pay attention first and foremost is the segmentation. Marks & Spencer has its own strategies for promoting the brand. However, this plan focuses on new strategies being followed by Marks & Spencer in order to raise the brand image of the company in the market. Although Marks & Spencer focuses a lot on the person of middle age, but have to focus on other variables, and for the purpose of segmentation. Below are targeting criteria that the company has been the following:

Behavioral segmentation

Benefits sought: Most products Marks & Spencer is rated good product that are available at a reasonable price

Purchase equipment: There are a variety of clothing offered for special occasions will take casual.

Use: M & S has a profile of heavy users who follow the 80/20 Pareto Judgement (80% of sales comes from 20% of customers)

Perception and beliefs: The perception of the brand is traditional clothing and standard.

Psychographic segmentation

Targeting strategy
Specific approach used by Marks & Spencer (M & S) is more multi segment a focused goal orientation. When we look at the statistics of segmentation, middle-aged women are the primary revenue generator for the company, but even 80% of customers bring 20% of sales according to the Pareto 80/20 rule can be developed to increase sales. So M & S has been more focused on addressing multiple segments of well-educated people with socio-economic class and some high-income urban populations. M & S has been with gender only for women, but now the environmental variables are changing, and M & S has entered the market for men with high quality products and has increased the brand image clothing and accessories industry.

M & S can no longer be differentiated or differentiated approach, such as pricing techniques are such products, which is aimed at limited segment of higher socioeconomic class, which are in high demand and can afford the luxury and pleasure travel easy .

Positioning Strategy
M & S, as has now become an international brand, therefore, the company needed to position your brand as a variable. Promotion in Southeast Asia had to be very different from what was positioned in the UK. The company has focused some important parameters that elevate the brand in the apparel industry. M & S has positioned his clothes and accessories with high quality relaxation, especially when it comes to international markets especially in India where people are more in the lower socioeconomic class and the purchasing power of consumers is not Like other international markets where M & S has been making profits, therefore, in regions such as the company also has focused on flexible pricing strategies to maintain and add new customers.

The M & S's competitors in the international market are large in number and in order to differentiate yourself is fine positioning strategy currently adopted by M & S adapted to the situation. The comfort and quality has been a primary concern for the garment industry and product placement with these parameters requires M & S to provide consistent results over the long term the company is able to build brand equity and customer loyalty.

The positioning promises a company makes to consumers and the fulfillment of this promise is not just the task more difficult but also requires great sacrifices and sometimes unpopular decisions. However, if the positioning of the brand is well justified by the company with the sincerity of the increase in the level of customers is important. In the world of similar products and services to retain customers is not easy and therefore, M & S as a brand has to work harder to get clothes off position.

Strategic Marketing - The Key to Making Marketing Really Work

Part 1

A dairy company decided to implement an interesting promotion hoping to increase sales dramatically. Within some of its milk cartons placed a small device that makes a MOO sound when the box was opened. If the consumer had the cardboard, it would be a winner. The promotion was well until over one of the cartons are opened on a plane and the "lucky winner", looked inside and saw the wires. Panic spread and the plane was forced to make an emergency landing. The dairy company is responsible for all costs associated with the emergency and had to pull the promotion of the market immediately. What began as a great idea, ended in disaster for the company.

So what happened?

In short, the company has designed the promotion, without regard to a number of external factors, although anticipated, would have helped prevent this disaster from happening. For example, if he had seen exactly where their small cardboard boxes being distributed, they would have realized that placing this type of promotion in the hands of airline passengers can have very logical and frightening.

In this example, the company was guilty of merely adopting tactical marketing approach and did not look at the strategic implications as they should. A strategic marketing approach would have prevented this disaster from happening.

In this article I show how marketing is a strategic task, and should not be driven by tactics and tools. I will show how, if you do marketing at a tactical level, which could be losing money (and potentially lose money as the dairy company mentioned above) and is less effective. People often say "marketing is expensive." I agree with that statement if that marketing is not well thought out and planned beforehand. Often a great idea is just that - a great idea - but when the rubber hits the road and establishes the fact that great idea has to have something more than creativity. You need a dose of reality and honest and that instead of analyzing the potential risks through strategic eyes.

What you should look for - to maximize their opportunities

Marketing is all about choices and making the right decisions that give the possibility to maximize the opportunities. It is too simple to choose a marketing tactic in isolation and to implement it, without weighing the options of "what else can we do?"

Small and medium enterprises are particularly guilty of this because they often do not have the time or resources to evaluate all possible options that are available. Simply go to the Proven "old" - brochures, business cards, etc. web site - and feel that the time you have spent your money on these marketing tools, then fine. I do not understand is that you are placing the most dangerous place in the minds of potential customers: "ME TOO-ville." That will look and feel like everyone else and makes them vulnerable.

So how out of "ME TOO-ville." Well, it's very simple: change your thinking. Start looking for opportunities that are not being met, rather than an imitator.

What marketing is - the tactics and tools

At home I have a toolbox. It is filled with all the latest gadgets, widgets, devices that allow me to fix things around the house. Therefore, my toolbox is full of the best tools in the business - then why is my house in a state of disrepair? It's actually pretty simple, just because I have the tools does not make me a handyman. And if I was handy, it would really be able to solve the electrical and plumbing problems that require a little more knowledge, and all because I have a full toolbox. Absolutely not.

What is the key to this problem? It is about knowing in advance what can and can not do. Do not buy the tool and save it in the toolbox, if you have no real need for it, or if someone else uses it because they lack the knowledge and experience. In fact, having this tool is a waste of money and could actually be very dangerous in the wrong hands.

What are the marketing tools we have in our marketing toolbox? Well, there are tons of them (to name a few: business cards, brochures, flyers, warning, social media, website, trade show, etc), and like most of the tools in a box tools, used only a few achieve. The other will lose and it is those others who are often the most important and impressive. So how does that work?

Decide before you buy (or use) of the tool, whether it is appropriate to have. And that is called planning.

Recently, a very intelligent budget caught my attention: "If you do not have a plan for you, you will be part of another person." I realized that it was absolutely true and completely unavoidable. The fate of any kind is in your hands if you do your plan. Is not part of a plan, after the destination is in the hands of another person. Are you sure you are satisfied with that? If not, then get planning.

People often have difficulty with the definition of marketing, and I recently met one of the simplest definitions that not only puts in perspective of marketing, but does the same for sale.

Marketing is the thinking part of the sale - to decide what products to sell and at what price, so the distribution channels and how to promote them. This is a planning, the positioning function.
